Chicken allocations and GC are a really great compromise between heap and stack memory. I've been looking into GC implementations recently and it's one of the most interesting. Another one I think is interesting is Lua's with the "upvalue

Iterators are great! I think I prefer thinking in terms of recursion because it helps me break it into subproblems better. That doesn't invalidate anyone's preference for iterators or generators. And you Python devs have nice list comprehen

I think it's definitely not you that is the problem :) Even the latest releases love to hog all the memory (even when idle) and mine creates zombie processes every time I run the simulator. It's the single crashiest piece of software my com

Gatekeeper is an okay compromise. I'd feel better about it if they didn't include restrictive app policies. What if I want to run apps that are signed by a certificate from some third party CA? I'd feel great about it if it would also infor

The only way I could agree with you more is if you didn't think they were catering to App Store developers. Xcode is terrible, the provisioning profiles are irritating, their requirements can be inscrutable. It seems like a bad experience c

I agree with this. I'm just pointing out that without even observing the icons in question I can assert that no theft occurred.

Actually under no circumstances whatsoever can copying an icon cross the line into actual theft. It's possible to cross the line into actual copyright infringement.

Even worse; their customer agreement seems to indicate that you are responsible for the content. They also refuse to turn it off if you send them an email. What a shitty little company to be inflicting this on their customers.

The only problem I have with this is that (and I say this as an Apple user) it is becoming clearer and clearer that Apple is pushing their desktops to be a good experience for people that don't know how to use computers, which (so far and I

The company is expected to have costs when hiring, it isn't appropriate to push them onto the applicants by having them work it off. What if a company gave you an itemized bill after your interview? You're still exchanging something of valu

I'm fine with advertisements in desktop apps. Those guys have to make money. But I think there should be a way to pay a fee and forcibly remove them even if the developer didn't code for it. It's your machine, after all.

I have a solution for that. The more a person says "faggot" the more images of men kissing they see in the game. A homophobic 13-year-old would be totally horrified by this whereas a reasonable adult that (somehow) didn't use the word as an
