Or "...For the Tasks That Were Measured". You can always complain that it's not universal enough.

Humans don't suck at arithmetic. Anecdata: Most cashiers used to be able to give correct change at checkout very quickly; only a few would type it into the register to have it do the math. Nowadays, with so many people using cards etc.

This isn't directly to your point, but: A civil suit for such an incident would generally name both the weapon owner (for negligence, etc.) and the manufacturer (for dangerous design).

That surprises me -- from what I've seen, Daniel is actually remarkably tolerant of incomplete/unclear reports. ( Too tolerant.) But I imagine that could depend on the day. (Now, if you used AI to generate the report, well... tha

I submit typo PRs sometimes. I just really like cleaning up docs, and some typos are important because they affect doc searchability. (But I do bundle them up so there's just one PR, and I generally won't do it for a single typo.)

I'd rather that the cops who actually used the AI slop had been reprimanded, and the chief had been kept... I wonder if this was one of those Google AI "summaries" that people are so happy to trust.

At this point I will generally only stick my neck out to criticize a project, decision, or initiative if one of the following is true: - It will adversely affect me directly (e.g. cause me to get paged a lot) - It will harm users or other p

There's a sort of milkshake-duck cadence to these "product announcement, vulnerability announcement" AI post pairs.

Prompt injection is not solvable in the general case. So it will just keep happening.

I can't imagine IA ever going for it. You'd need a separate org that just scrapes for AI training, because its bot is going to be blocked by anyone who is anti-AI. It wouldn't make sense for it to serve multiple purposes. C

We already know the solution: One well-behaved, shared scraper could serve all of the AI companies simultaneously. The problem is that they're not doing it.

It's only "noise" if it's uncorrelated. I don't see any reason to believe it wouldn't be correlated, though.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Perhaps LA was the largest city in CA that didn't have its own ordinance on this?

Yeah, it's absolutely tangled up in the way you describe. (In the US we have the same overall situation, but the propaganda seems to mostly be driven by rich people who own media companies...)

It's a combination. Here in the US, a large chunk of the population supported Trump, knowing full well what kind of things he would do. And another large chunk of the population are trying to stop him. You can't blame the populati

I already tend to talk the way the author describes, which means I'm probably going to get accused of sounding like a prompter. -.- (It's something I've been wanting to change, though.)
