The bit about the response of criminal organizations is very interesting. I've heard odd rumors about Japanese career criminals, such as commonly going into the business fully expecting to go to jail. Can any one suggest books / docs on t

This is the only thing that makes sense, I've turned down a couple contracts now for people wanting me to develop and maintain code bases on three different platforms for the same app. Until someone figures out a way around the cross platf

I've only been in that datacenter once and I was signed in by someone with authority to help them with something. Like others have said here, it's more to help with "I didn't know I wasn't supposed to touch it" type cases. The RSA cabinet

I've never set one up. There's an RSA encryption cabinet in our datacenter at work, it has red rope around it like a nightclub line and a sign that says no non RSA certified personnel. I imagine anyone who knows what it might be can't con

I'm reminded of the mitnick/tsutomu tales. I think Anon may be in for some hurt with a guy like Hoglund pissed at them. He's been on the front lines of security research for at least a decade.

I agree about the guessing game, but games are fun! I spent a good long while reading this site that speculates on all sorts of cool future achievements. http://www.futuretimeline.net/

Really enjoy Jon Jabat-Zinn's material. He's got a couple videos on google tech talks and his guided CD's are very good. I came to meditation knowing nothing at all and his clear and simple explanations helped immensely.

I did the first time I read it, and it still seems a thin explanation for those remarks. The bulk of the article is a serious personal reflection on the topic and the only indication that he's joking is the over the top content of his hype

None at all. I would prefer not be vague and indirect, but if he asks (and he does now and then since I gave a print interview regarding the G20 activities around our building) I can honestly say I did not name the company.

The bossman really doesn't like it when I specify, but googling largest bank in Canada will confirm / deny your guess. As I understand it the new CIO got the job based on this plan to keep IT budget down. For this one friend who will be l

I work for Canada's largest bank and they're turfing contractors at a pretty rapid rate. Shoveling lots of work offshore. Edit: FTE's seem safe for the moment.

I've wondered lately why things like Power and Friendfeed weren't doing this already. They've had more datapoints than Triangulate are using for some time now.

The "my news" front page has made it vastly more useful for finding things I'm interested in. Though until it's out of beta and friends can use it fully it still feels a bit like the "like" button in google reader.

I completely agree with the bit about losing your QWERTY skills. I wasn't expecting it at all when I switched and was pretty shocked when I discovered I had to hunt and peck on most other peoples machines. That being said the opposite is a
