I spent four weeks trying to order a genuine replacement keyboard for for my X1 after Lenovo Service tried to charge me $400 for a user-replaceable part. The parts order line was only open a few hours a day and hold times tended to go past

Yeah. It's really not too bad. It's certainly a little bit better if you take the ~4-10 lines to reconfigure a couple of keys. I map dhtn to hjkl and move d to j, n to l. It's pretty natural after that.

All depends on your taste. My .vimrc handles ensuring that I have a plugin manager installed and that it installs those plugins on my behalf if they aren't there. And I do all of that in ~10 lines of vimL config. It's totally reas

The plugins you need to make Atom/VSCode great (no experience with modern Sublime) definitely count as configuration in my book, and often come with their own configuration load. If I sit down at a new machine, they won't be there

That's not really what I was doubting (I could see that). I just doubt that it's likely to not need a configuration file if I were to replace vim with it. In GP's assertion that this is the best reason to use Amp over vim, th

In the case of Gas Buddy (and larger, Cuebiq), I've seen two family members have their entire data plan used up on their behalf by the location services being overused. I'm guessing a bug in a recent version of their library. It m

No, that's why I put it in quotes. They will often keep in incessant contact and try to escalate matters within the department or school. This is still somewhat rare, but happens often enough to complain about.

Many of the scientific antiquities and papers of the UK end up at the Royal Society Library. Brady Haran has a nice video series named Objectivity[1] about objects in the archives done with their head librarian, Keith Moore[2]. [1]: https:

Here are my first impressions. This has some pretty serious usability issues when compared to pocket, and I'm not 100% convinced it does more, even digging into the blog notes. Let's start at folders. The folders appear to just be
