I've known how to fix things for a loonnggg time, however I've never felt the need to fix things that aren't absolutely blocking my current goal. I'm not sure the two are that deeply linked, except that the former pote

In Belgium, Albert Hijn, I get audited about half the time. It's pretty quick so I don't really mind, but it happens a bit too frequently to my taste.

Of course it is. If nobody tells them that what they are doing is wrong and that it might have consequences, they will continue cheating.

I already get those benefits from focused pre-coding discussions and pull request reviews. They allow for high-quality decisions, involve more perspectives, and are asynchronous. Pair programming might help when training juniors, since they

I’ve never really understood the hype around pair programming. In practice, it’s usually just sitting with a coworker who wants to chat and crack jokes while working. That’s fine socially, but I don’t see any productivity gains. What I find

Exactly my experience in Belgium where we have a similar grade system. Teachers would give a list of questions in advance, students would just memorize the answers and repeat them at the exam. Most of them had absolutely zero understanding

Understanding one level of abstraction doesn't mean you understand the levels of abstraction built on top of it. And vice versa.

There's often a lot of "business" human knowledge required to use a feature properly. That's usually what ends up in documentation.

Just a local LLM app would be fine. I don't want it to be integrated with the OS.

Right, first thing I did after opening the article is CTRL-F'ing for conflict, and got zero result. How are they not talking about the only real problem about the local-first approach? The rest is just boiler plate code.

It's crazy the mental gymnastics people will go through to justify not using Firefox. They should just be honest and say they're too lazy to switch.

I will never understand why anyone would ever want to use voice assistants (other than for accessibility reasons). It is so gimmicky and awkward to use. Android Auto does not even understand the word "no".

I hear so many people IRL complaining about this. I tell them to switch to firefox, that the adblockers still work there, and they still won't switch to it because they are "used to chrome". I really feel like google won this

Here in Belgium, by default they will bring it to the post office, but I've checked the option to leave it on the porch. There's a camera. Been just fine for years, in a suburb area.

It's the same with toner levels. Printer was saying toner was empty. I reset the toner levels of the printer using that hidden maintenance button combination. It kept printing just fine for a looong time after that.

There are also people who just don't ever travel, we lower that average holiday budget. I don't travel, and I think it's a bit weird how "normalized" it is. Not that it is wrong to travel, but people always ask me w
