This sort of over-the-top rhetoric gives anti-maskers their ammo. I am unaware of a single family, anywhere on the planet, that was "decimated" by Covid. I hope you really mean "devastated," because then at least you

Thanks for trying to help out, but that's the FDA, not CDC. And this is a much murkier situation. Ivermectin does seem to help Covid, but it looks like that's correlation, not causation. Astral Codex Ten has a great writeup on thi

It used to be a pretty short list, like NYT and Washington Post. But since the Trump era... honestly? None of them. I am literally unaware of a single mainstream television station, newspaper, or magazine that hasn't been caught in bla

I note how your comment has been largely ignored by... the massive numbers of Facebook and Google employees reading this site. If there was an ounce of integrity in Tech these days, this would have been called out, front-and-centre, and rem

Never. The only proper response is to force healthy, thin, young people who've already recovered from Covid to get vaccinated. And continue to get tested for Covid before traveling.

I may as well throw in my anecdote. Interviewed at Stripe. It actually went reasonably well until one interview. Dude said he had attended one of my talks, then proceeded to take contrary positions on anything I had asserted in that talk. I

> That's the entire point. It's a piece of information that even when it's known by everyone still can't be reproduced. And yet, it can be reproduced. So it seems like the entire point is... invalid.

That's an interesting take. Most everyone I know find Google's chat changes utter shit, and have found alternatives. Personally, I dumped it and joined a Slack community of the one person I talked with most on it. Besides being a

You are on hacker news. Left is good. Right is bad. Facts and reality will not change this formula. You are absolutely right. Just read the comments, not even "on the internet" but right here on HN. Some even seem in favour of a..

Yep. The memory-holing is already going strong. In another year, all those "now-deleted" links won't work anymore, and everyone will keep claiming the government never lied, and you'll be a nutter if you claim the govern

Yeah. I'm fine with people choosing their path in life. I was only referring to their own statements and attitudes. Not trying to come up with some universal code of conduct or anything here.

I think I found something else better than being smart: a high need for cognition. Possibly better than curiosity, but read below to find the nuance I find in that. I think I'm a little smart, but not too much higher-than-average. But

Zero comments? When the robotic overlords take over, it will not be to thunderous applause nor loud protestations, but rather quietly beneath the surface silence of billions of people distracted by something more interesting or enticing.

Notice how the USA is the top country in the world for getting ahead. If you want to work hard and become rich, that's your spot. Places with "robust workers rights"? Not-so-much.
