The site runs over https but loads leaflet over http, so that it get's blocked at least by recent versions of Firefox, Chrom[e/ium] and Internet Explorer. https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Security

I see you point but it should not weaken the security because encryption happens at the client, Google "only" gets metadata which at least authorities will get anyway. Besides, TextSecure is free software so it might possible to r

Afaik TextSecures server infrastructure consists mainly of Google Play Services which comes at no financial costs for them but with the downside of depending on Google to temporary store encrypted text.

As far as I now, there is a in-browser client (a browser extension, iirc) in development. Your second question is harder. I don't know of a better solution than a self-hosted jabber-server with https.

I guess, for Google at least, getting all DNS requests of their users is worth paying for a popular DNS server. That's how they know which sites your like even if those sites don't use Google Analytics.

Yes you could, but it's harder. extract($_GET) does not look as bad as eval(request.GET) but it's almost the same thing for example.
