On the one hand, they're trending towards break-even. On the other hand, they're losing the price of a car amount of money every time they sell a car . Doesn't seem great for a car company.

I don't think it's cynical, I think it's the point. Describing the problem is not easy, and to your point, is sometimes controversial. One advantage of focusing on describing the problem is that it naturally lets you have an

"Giving back" might be an understatement for Meta's open source contributions. They are the bedrock of so much OSS in the last decade, it's everyone _else_ that is "giving back."

As I mentioned in another reply, “power” doesn’t necessarily mean someone is a sociopath, it just means they like that they can have an impact due to the control they have. In my experience with Reddit mods, usually that comes from a good p

Yeah I’d agree with that too. People who care about something often like to be in a position where they can impact the thing they care about. “Power” isn’t a totally cynical way of describing it.

Fwiw, I am strongly pro universal health care, but agree with pfannkuchen’s framing of what a right is. I see it as clarifying position, not a muddying one. Healthcare requires resources, it doesn’t happen just because everyone agrees upon
