That article was not flagged off the frontpage. It set off the flamewar detector. As for recoiledsnake, that is one of many accounts created by a group or individual who is either an astroturfer or indistinguishable from one. Part of his&

I've always meant to check if that's a predictor, but anecdotal evidence suggests not. I.e. I know some of the most successful startups applied at the last minute, but not all did.

I knew a lot of people applied on the last day but I've always been curious about the shape of the curve, so I finally wrote something to track it. The current rate is about 1.3 applications per minute. I'm guessing that will incr

You don't have to work in a field to be familiar with its problems. You can also be a user. But one way or another, you should understand the problems well.

Ok, I found 4 more by doing a text search for "Urbanski." 2 of them I'd read myself, incidentally. Why did you ditch mcu? Did you forget the password? I can reset it for you if you like.

Incidentally, the most important question (at least to me) has become: Why did you pick this idea to work on? Do you have domain expertise in this area? How do you know people need what you're making? and that one should

Incidentally, Soylent is a perfect example of something that some people really love and others dismiss as a toy. Not that that is a perfect predictor of success. If only. But it is at least a positive sign. (Come to think of it, maybe I

Because it's much cleaner and more powerful if the thing that generates the next page is a closure rather than just an index. Among other things it lets you show each user a different set of items (depending on whether they have showd

That's caused by using closures to create dynamically generated "callbacks" on the server, not keeping data structures in RAM. If you ask for some old item not in memory, it just gets lazily loaded.
