Used to be that Windows allowed programs to hook into each others’ event busses. (It might still, I’m not sure.) This might be why a few of my Highschool’s computers would interpret every 5th right click in minesweeper as a left click

Jobs was chronically focused on producing products that were ahead of the market. As a consequence, the Macintosh and the NeXT were incredible, forward-looking, and overpriced for the market. I’m by no means happy or in agreement with his “

The “Steve Jobs” movie written by Soorkin does such a good job examining this question by having the two of them fight over the relative importance of their contributions. Since one of character-Woz’s strongest lines is “you can be decent a

Generally good advice there- Some products have price sensitivity among buyers that stops them from maintaining margins when the environment is too high cost. If you can’t go upscale, you’re going to have to cut costs to the bone and/o

It’s the demonstration of malice that will make this suit fail. You have to show evidence that the alleged defamer knew their statements are false. You might even need to prove intent. Unless they dig up a Facebook email saying “We know thi

The points in this post are all legit, but I think it misses a couple things. The blockchains are all controlled by some kind of plutocracy (people with wealth) as the gist describes. However there is a relatively complex dynamic between

This resonates with me more than the other comments. I’ve done a lot of self-directed work, and I’ve worked at web dev shops. In the latter, the only complaint I ever had about Jira was that it was slow. My PMs were my favorite people; they

I'm a long-time Node user and gave Deno a pretty close look recently. There's a ton to like, but the ecosystem of nodejs modules is hard to overcome, and I spent a lot of time fighting with the subtle differences between them inst

One thing I know some schools offer is, IIRC, auditing classes. I did this at UT a few years ago. You basically pay a filing fee and then can attend classes without enrolling. No credits or degree possibility AFAIK, but you get to learn.

I would build around a constrained high-level concept. Something like actors, perhaps. It would be assembly-like, command-oriented. I would then build a visualization environment which shows what the actors are doing, possibly step-by-step.

You can remove tombstones in a cleanup pass if you constrain behavior a bit. For instance, if there’s just a single server, after 5 minutes of no active connections you could clean out tombstones. After that, if a client connects with some
