I don't use vimr that heavily, but a few times now I've seen it chewing on the CPU when I've left it open in the background. I do use neovim heavily and haven't seen that.

But that's my point. It has a place in a very, very narrow number of applications. For those it's an all-in decision where the UI significantly changes and it's ignoring your operating system. Photoshop for most of its hist

I completely agree. I'm questioning whether I'm curmudgeon for feeling this way, but the only time I notice scrolling customizations is when they mess up scrolling--which is surprisingly often and also seems intentional most of t

I don't see how that kind of SPA is any different than a heavy pro app. Those apps often come up with their own UI scheme that people either love or hate (and usually completely ignores system preferences). A few common examples (I s

It really depends on the usage. Our iPads don't have cellular and our kid often watches movies and tv in the car. I've also downloaded YouTube videos so they can watch. 32GB is a very small amount of space for that kind of usag

My wife has an iPad Air 2. The screen cracked over the years (it's mostly our 3yo's now--the source of the cracks). I went to get the screen repaired and was quoted at $169 (because the screen was "a one-off" for Apple

I don't do webdev, but have primarily used Python for 10+ years. I've dabbled in both Rails and Django and agree with the parent's points. I would have stated them myself, but it was probably 5 years ago and it sounds like

I do think "worth transitioning" is the final group of people who have the most reason to hold off. If new features are what made it worth transitioning, then it probably was 3.6 with async/await. If you relied a lot of uni

LA has been adding them all over. I really hate speed bumps. It feels like a band-aid on a design problem that just causes premature wear on your car--but it might be their best option.
