I use google take out to do a dump of email and back up the download file. In order to clear out a bunch of space on my gmail account, I did a full export and then deleted conversations based on date. I ended up having to use a script whi

For point 2, check out synology. I can say my experience has been great and I wish I’d bought a bigger device (I got a four bay enclosure and wish I’d gotten 8). QNap was also a home storage device I looked into, but don’t have any experien

To anyone interested, I noticed this stoppage as well. IIRC, the data in BigQuery stopped being updated Nov 16, 2022. I’ve got a complete dataset that merges in new content from the firebase dataset, then rectifies story points at a later t

I was just reading up on sqlite's docs to create a common table expression to return a graph of records stored with single table inheritance. Came across these gems in the docs: a mandelbrot set approximation visualizer and a sodoku s

One of my former co-workers had one of those business cards as our company had used Mitnick Security to evaluate our processes. I can confirm it's a really cool business card.

Outrageous salaries are part of FAAMG’s* moat. It’s very hard to lure a googler away to your startup when you can only afford to pay them half their current salary. And even if said googler is interested, their lifestyle is now depends on t

Agree with most of this, except the last segment. I'll add that there are other aspects of "quality" in code. For sure, doing what the customer wants and is willing to pay for is paramount, but there are definitely other thi
