True. And that is the strength of the PC platform, its openness and being able to run whatever you want.

More like 50 years if you consider emulators (RetroArch is available on Steam).

You don't need Valve for that, Chinese brands like Anbernic, Ayn or Ayaneo are smashing the market right now.

That doesn't make sense, the Super Famicom / European SNES has a curved surface, whereas the American SNES is the one with a flat surface.

I also live in Japan and everything you wrote is true, but I would add more point: extreme risk aversion that results in any tiny change getting discussed to ridiculous levels.

I live in Japan so I have seen what danieltanfh95 describes many times in person. Japanese people at work seem to have infinite patience with whatever random bullshit their company will ask for, but outside of work they get easily frustrate

Yeah, Japanese economy has been quite stagnant since the bubble collapse in 1990. Pretending that their model works is ridiculous.

I am from Spain and it is the same in my country. If you ask the average Spanish person about "queso suizo", they will picture Emmental or Gruyere with the stereotypical holes in it.

> Nobody wants to play games on Linux given the small userbase compared to Windows. According to the last Steam survey, 3% of players use Linux. Steam has 130 million active players, so that means there are 4 million people playing on Li

My experience is in big scientific experiments like particle accelerators, I guess other fields are different. Still, my experience is that: 1) The control network is air gapped, any kind of direct Internet connection is very much forbidden

If we are talking about embedded control systems no, you don't want new software, you want your machine to do what is supposed to do. At my workplace we have some old VME crates running VxWorks, and nobody is gonna update those to the

It's weird that the book is titled "PC98", because PC-98 usually refers to NEC's line of x86 but not IBM PC compatible computers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PC-98 Which I think reinforces your ar

Is that so? I know that MIPS used to be very popular for embedded devices, especially routers and switches, but it seems that everything has moved to ARM.

SPARC, MIPS, Alpha and others are irrelevant nowadays. Regarding POWER, the few distros that support it, only support the little-endian variant. Ditto for ARM.

The Sony display uses a parallax barrier with eye tracking, like a Nintendo 3DS on steroids. It projects a different image for each eye, there is no way you can replicate the effect with a standard display unless you use shutter glasses.

My company bought one of those Sony Spatial Reality Displays a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it is truly impressive, the 3D effect is really convincing. I just tried this demo and it is cool, but nowhere as good.

If your console supports either RGB output via SCART or YPbPr via component cables, which an European PS2 definitely does, I would recommend you the GBS-C. You can find it in Amazon for less than 80 euros, and the upscaling quality is great
