Colored functions can be nice. It makes the type system give a hint that a function could take a long time. You can then e.g. avoid holding locks when awaiting. But there is a big downside, that's true.

Very good to see this as the top-voted comment. I completely agree that this seems like a more natural explanation of what is going on.

The best solvers are really impressive. Unfortunately, they also cost a very large sum of money. We should be happy that many of the best tools in other areas are free.

A sphere of course have sum of the squares of all points equal to one. So in high dimensions, it’s clear that most points have to be close to 0. Hence the “spikes” Boxes are more intuitive

I don’t think this is true at all. Alphabet has Waymo and Isomorphic Labs, trying to commercialise solutions to problems with very, high impact. Time scale is at least a decade

The suggestion by Clang seems perfectly fine. > With Clang trunk on my laptop, I get consistently about 1.0s for the push version, and 4.2s for the emplace version. Wow that is why we're not using C++ at work.

If they could have solved it, they would have. But I agree that language models will be able to do it.

This is more of a C question than C++. In a C++ library you would probably make the format function type safe. But both Clang and gcc have annotations you can add to functions using format strings so they are type-checked
