Just use the typedef. Even if you personally find the other variants readable, chances are that your peer reading your code doesn't.

This is correct. A deletion should be effective/visible immediately, but it can take some time before all backups are guaranteed to be gone.

I saw that quicksort code when I looked at Haskell back in 2002. Why is that still used as an example? I have seen in-place quicksort in Haskell and it is not pretty.

Maybe you are right, but in Poker championships you see many of the same names in the top from one year to the next, right? (I could be wrong about this) That could suggest the variance is manageable. I'd like to see more players becau

Personally, I think it would be much more interesting to see an AI compete in a multi-player game with, say, ten human pros at the table. Not just heads-up.

You can compute perfect strategies for much simpler variants of Hold’em, e.g. Leduc Hold’em. Then you see that bluffing is absolutely required for optimal play.

Do you mean that they are using a pure strategy? I seriously doubt that. But yes, that would not be a good idea since optimal play is a complicated mixed strategy.

Not sure most people even use bookmarks to be honest. Maybe my non-technical friends are atypical, though. "Navigational searches" are a thing and they are very optimized by Google. But yes, auto-complete likey handles a lot as we

Yeah, I think it would be too expensive for Dropbox to truly encrypt the data. Because then decuplication would not be possible.

I agree that it will be very, very difficult for Dropbox to become a collaborative platform. They wanted to become a platform for photos earlier (with Carousel), but that failed.

The thing is, you can not use Python in production at Google. YouTube was acquired a long time ago and a rewrite of the inherited Pyton code base has not happened for very good reasons.

I am certainly no religious follower of TDD, but I do think writing tests before code is useful. The reason is simple: it tests your tests. I have many times found bugs in tests that made them always pass.

But in that case you are in no position to give up on C++ anyway, as your grandparent commenter did.

Great to see even more support for type annotations. Having to specify the type of variables in comments was never a good solution.

This is very incorrect in my opinion. It is every engineer's responsibility to figure out what the business needs. Perhaps an intern does not need to worry about that, but that's about it.
