It's not about punishing at all. It's about undoing the smearing / poisoning of what was otherwise an innocent thing free of politics. Now forever that branch is stained with political correctness. If we undo it, it can be un

How/why to justify something that was unjustified in the first place?

It's okay to course correct and have principles though. One can go forward again after going backwards.

We aren't going to rehash the whole history here and it's disingenuous to try discussing the accuracy / pertinence of the word master here when that wasn't what originated the change in the first place.

It wasn't obsessive to change it in the first place?

The change originally was never about developer experience.

When making a new repo, reset your initial branch back to master with the following command: git config --global init.defaultBranch master There's the equivalent setting in GitHub.

I think it's less about what it is, but what it claims to be. "Artificial Intelligence"... It's not. Dolphin keyboard squad (DKS), then sure. The "just fancy autocomplete" is in response, but a criticism

I already knew it was going to be something like this just from the title. Kids should be taught to think for themselves, not just logically. We are growing a generation of people who offload their critical thinking to authority or actors&#

Not sure who's arguing what and on what side here but when making a sandwich, adding dressing or oil to the sandwich is often referred to as "adding a lubricant" to the sandwich.

I think it's a perfect little detail that captures this writer's persona. Their blog is powered by the (once famed, and very popular) Octopress [0]. Every developer was running their own blog off of it. My point is, it looks like

I haven't seen an octopress site in a hot minute. I miss octopress and the dev culture of writing that came with it, personal website. Shared template based on max writing speed and efficiency.

I really don't understand the appeal of dbt vs a proper programming language. The templating approach leads to massive spaghetti. I look forward to trying out something like Ibis [0] 0: https://ibis-project.org/

Probably the most inhumane thing ever is having to make a recorded video of yourself answering personal life questions (presumably to be reviewed by a human from HR) only to actually be processed by an algorithm.

While I'm a huge fan of the lean startup method, Ries was heavily associated with the R E S I S T movement and ultimately ended up creating resistbot. Kinda lame imo.
