Why the downvote? Simple tools always work well. If you want process isolation on Linux, LXC + rsync might as well be the simplest route.

Looks like ShipBuilder has overlap with Docker, if not a direct competitor. A disclaimer wouldn't have hurt in my opinion.

I like the spirit, but how will Vim's marking system help me jump to a CSS selector in an unbuffered stylesheet? I'm really curious; missing this feature from heavyweight IDEs.

Nice ad hominem. Using vi before any of us was born does not mean you avoided the classic "vim newbie" mistake.

Please tell me more about this modern editor where half the keystrokes get the same job done. Or tell me about any editor where the same amount of keystrokes get the same job done.

I always had the notion that LLVM is faster than GCC. I don't feel qualified to interpret this benchmark comparison, but they appear to have roughly the same performance?

Why would you need SSH login option in phpMyAdmin? It was designed for single-server setups where the interpreter sits next to the database.

I found both phpPgAdmin and PgAdmin III superior to phpMyAdmin in many aspects. And there's always DBeaver to handle any relational database you can probably imagine. Although I must say I've yet to see an SQL client that comes cl

Very insightful article. I do wonder though if "say no to databases" still stands as of now. I agree that performance-wise files are hard to beat for most problems, but we're storing data in databases because they provide gua

Great work! Are there similar initiatives trying to collect common knowledge in structured data? (I know this is a broad topic, but can't stop thinking about a more semantic web.)

Shelling out for each piece of data is indeed not great. Shelling out for batch-processing loads of data is on the other hand great.

Yes. I love the simple green interface and the custom domain option. This will be a very very sad day for the Internet. OpenID could have been such a game changer in this era of monopolies.

Not to defend JavaScript specifically, but almost all scripting language can be used for general-purpose computing. That's what scripts are for. (Although JavaScript in particular is not an excellent language for anything .)

Can you please shed more light on BBC World Service? Why the past tense? What radio would you suggest now as a general English background noise to occasionally learn vocabulary from? Honestly I'd have to improve my spoken English a lot

That's the point GP made. It is not markedly different, and it is not different at all. The content is just simply useless. From Googlebot's perspective, it is not cloaking at all.
