ZCash has a myriad of fundamental issues, chief among them: -ZCash is a US-based LLC, and given what is publicly known about the capabilities and past behavior of its intelligence apparatus I don't see how anyone can claim that such an

I'm but a layman but browser-side SSL verification is essentially 3rd-party centralized validation of the authenticity of one side of an encryption mechanism - predetermined vendors tell the browser whether a SSL cert is as claimed and

It's becoming apparent that describing Snowden's role at the NSA as a "regular/vanilla" analyst, or system administrator (media/government narrative) is an imprecise understatement. There was a NYT story a coup

Does the fact that they're contractors and not employees absolve the contractee of some/any liability/culpability? Perhaps, further, even recursively as the contractors themselves wouldn't be able to discuss the contract

Related further reading for trainwreck geeks: EDS (now HP) infamously botched a 1-year ~50million-turned-4 year-multi-hundred million dollar CRM project for BskyB a decade ago, and eventually lost a years-long lawsuit. http://www

Don't know if this is intentional, but I really like the use of she in reference to the user in the blogpost. I've never seen that before and it's very refreshing, seemingly valorizing the user as if they were a country or a vessel. Con

You should have just jumped on IRC prior to panicking--you would have gotten an update instantaneously. Or better yet, you could idle a detached screen in there. When I had a Linode a few months back, there were constantly 500 rather help

Organized music piracy (mp3 scene) began in the summer of '96 when 3 of the major groups were formed (of which RNS was the most famous and long-lived). By '97 it was 'adopted' by the software (warez) scene, and also borrowed its supply and

Bouncing, interpreted strictly, refers to masking your IP on IRC by going through a different host which is running such software (bnc). It is widely used innocuously. I suppose it can also encompass alternative ways of hiding your IP by go

Out of the major banks in Canada, the one with the most ATMs is the smallest--and incidentally also has the highest Forrester's marks in online banking.

This article is devoid of insight. The author didn't even do basic research on the topic, because, as already mentioned, the easiest route--creating a temporary linode--isn't covered. Linode's own documentation covers back-ups much better
