Apple hit it well and truely out of the park with their M1 and follow ons. No other company makes their own CPU cores. They license them from ARM. I suppose Qcomm or NVIDIA could take an ARM core and make a great Laptop/Desktop SoC but

I can degoogle except for gmail and maps. Apple Maps in my country sucks. There are no good alternatives to Google Maps. Gmail - I have too much stuff there to move away.

In my experience salaries of "IT peepul" varies quite a bit based on domain, company, hw/sw etc To my limited knowledge 30L for 10yr experience is around the mid range for a generic s/w job (i.e. nothing niche)
