I agree. Also, most companies need a lot fewer middle managers than they have. I picked a "management" path because promotions are easier. But I still do technical work - I write code, review code, create and review tech documents. Successive teams I have managed liked it that their manager is "one of them". We dont have boring team meetings. All are technical except select 1-1s which are career conversations
