I don’t think you’re missing anything. It’s perhaps folly to quantify “democracy”, but looking past that folly, the US doesn’t rank all that highly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index Mind you, it’s weird to

And for those downvoting me: I grew up in a town called Farmington. My family gets these big fat subsidies. Which I sure do appreciate! Doesn’t mean it’s not a tremendous distortion of the market and the environment.

The red states feed the blue states, so better keep them happy - electoral college is one of the checks that performs that function. You’d think the giant bribes—oops, I mean, farm subsidies would help with that. https://www.

The Electoral College is not going away via an amendment. No small state Senator would vote for that, nor would any small state legislature. The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact? Maybe. https://www.brookings.edu/blog

Who is managing to do work on a properly old machine? I’m most familiar with old Mac OS machines. Like, before it was called Mac OS. And they are extremely difficult to connect to anything on the contemporary internet, because none of the a

I don’t know a lot about bank economics, but it’s not clear to me how they would have made much money. Interest rates are basically 0%, and they didn’t charge much in the way of fees. I bank with Charles Schwab, which is very low cost in te

If only the President had some sort of way to get a message out…perhaps something like a conference…with the press…I don’t know, it’s obviously an idea ripe for disruption. (Or he could post a message to the White House website.)

I’d love to be able to block a domain from showing up in my search results. Pinterest being an obvious offender, but I can imagine people wanting to block certain news sites, or Fandom/Wikia sites, or all sorts of link farm spam sites.
