Or we could create a meat tax, stop subsidies, create task forces who actually care about animal welfare and do randomized tests regularly so animal abuse can be limited. It would also help, if governments would actively work on making vege

I've used a 2012 MacBook Air 11,6" till 2018 for 3D development among other tasks. It's not a toy only usable for consumption. It's simply a good compromise when you care about mobility.

I think, this might be true for some people in the beginning, but according to this article and other similar articles, a lot of people are leaving the company. So I'm not so sure this idealism is all that accurate. Also, you don'

I think your notion here is naive. Assuming a majority of people in China is fine with the way the government runs, does not negate the fact that many people are not. In a country of a billion people, we are speaking of millions of people.

I think fear also hinders innovation as it hinders thought and disruption at times. I am sure, to a certain degree, it's good to be fearful and understand the stakes but I doubt this has to be something maintained through verbal attack

Why exactly is 1 + 1 = 2? Yes, postmodernism is in a sense very theoretical and I would also say the word itself has been misused or used too broadly in ways, but the essense of it definitely is a step further from the previous default.

This is definitely the reason. France specifically makes it very difficult to start a business, but even in other places such as Germany or the UK, it seems like any attitude towards independence is always met with discouragement.

I would recommend also testing with IBM's Watson Speech. In my usage it was a lot more accurate than Google and Azure. I also did a couple of tests with AWS and Watson was always ahead. All these tests were with American and British En

It's interesting to see another entry point to HN. Is there some way to see how many comments the posts have? I think reading the discussions is a huge part of why people use this website.

Democracy's flaws have been studied for thousands of years. You can find a very detailed critique from Plato for example. All of his arguments are still true today. The problem is that there really isn't a better alternative when

I wonder why you require an email address if it's supposed to be anonymous? Apart from that, I think the concept is quite interesting.

This is an interesting project. I guess the concept is similar to Gimlet Media's "Startup", but very niche-specific. I just subscribed and will give it a listen.

Are these miners effective enough? I guess, at scale they should have some value but my initial gut feeling would lead me to believe that even a huge botnet can hardly compete with dedicated hardware.

I had the same issue. I think, your keyboard/mouse are allowed to wake up from sleep automatically and some glitch gives your desktop the impression that a key was hit. If you disable this in the device manager, this issue should be re
