Wow, I'm of the opinion that ThinkPads have the best laptop keyboards by far. Sharp keys? Which model did you use?

I have a X220 with the IPS screen and it looks great despite being relatively low resolution.

I have both the X220 (standard kb) and X1 (chiclet kb). The X220 keyboard is much better than the X1.

   by pearle 14y ago

Likewise. I also own a X1 and the X220 screen is far better.

Gotcha. To be honest I'm not that familiar with Android, having primarily used iOS for the past few years.

   by pearle 14y ago

Yeah, I really don't get this line of thinking. The iOS and Android home screens are about as boring as you can get. It's just a grid of icons.

Why mention it? Isn't retina just an Apple specific marketing term for a high resolution screen?

I'm in the market for a new phone to replace my 3 year old 3GS and I'm disappointed that they didn't have any availability announcements. Hopefully this information will be released soon.

I agree and I have disabled the trackpads in the bios settings for both of my Lenovo laptops. I just wish they could solve the slight movement drift you experience sometimes when using the ThinkPoint.

I love the big Esc & Del keys on the X220. I also have last years X1 with the chiclet keyboard and I very much prefer the keyboard on the X220.

ATI would be another example. Of course, they merged with AMD.

I have a Lenovo X220 and a Lenovo X1. Both work well with Ubuntu.

Anyone have any details on why us-east-1 seems to be less reliable than the other regions? Is it the oldest?
14. 74.▲
    by pearle 14y ago

I'm running in us-east-1 and my EC2 instances and EBS volumes are still responding ok for the moment... Fingers crossed (just deployed to AWS less than 2 weeks ago).

This happened to me with my last MBP. Three motherboards and four batteries within a 3 year period. The case also cracked near the screen. I've since switched to another laptop manufacturer.

I agree with the GP. I'm currently planning out a migration to EC2 for my company and having all this information in one place would be a great help.

I agree with this. I have several IBM/Dell/Lenovo adapters and they are all in fine shape. My Apple adapters? Not so much -- they're all in various stages of cable breakage. I really do not care how the connector sleeves look on my cables.

I likely would stop visiting Google as frequently as I do. The sparse homepage is one of the main reasons I switched to Google way back in the day.

I use it all the time for mixed unit equations and conversions.

I'm really going to miss bookstores if they disappear, even the big chains like Barnes & Noble.

No, I was responding to the comment that $50 games provide 100+ hours of entertainment. I was just claiming that this is not necessarily true.

    by pearle 15y ago

I do not argue against the fact that multiplayer games have a longer potential playtime, however not all games have multiplayer so you just can't say that a $50 or $60 game will definitely have 100+ hours of entertainment value.

    by pearle 15y ago

I understand your point but, multi-player aside, how many $60 games (that's the standard pricing these days for AAA titles) provide 100+ hours? They are very rare. Skyrim is the only recent qualifying game that jumps to mind.

Yeah, it just came up for me after a bunch of 502 responses. Reddit has done a good job on the page. It has a call to action and provides a lot of information. Kudos.

That's a strong statement. What languages other than PHP are you comparing it to?

Is this an older article or something recent? A 1999 paper is referenced but the article itself does not seem to have a date.
