Take this bit of pseudocode: a = readLine() b = readLine() print(b) print(a) What order are the lines executed in? In a strict language, the answer is obvious. In a non-strict language, line 4 has a data dependency on l

According to their changelog[0], Clock was added to the standard library with Swift 5.7, which shipped in 2022, at the same time as iOS 16. It looks like static linking by default was approved[1] but development stalled[2]. I expect that it

Funnily enough, in a world with WASM, we might actually have Java in the backend and C in the frontend rather than vice versa as it would've been likelier in the 90s.

I'm up to episode four and really enjoying it, but I got a sinking feeling when I noticed that it's a Jonathan Nolan/Lisa Joy thing. Westworld Season 1 was great, but it rapidly started going to shit, and I'm a bit afrai

The previous comment talks about founder and ceo Nirav Patel. Comment you're replying to says "I wanted to do this", and is posted by a user named nrp. It's not rocket science.

I commented to this effect on a previous post: I find that the old Atlas leaned much more into the uncanny valley because it was sort of human-like in its movement. This one has some horror movie robot vibes going, but not the uncanny valle

The original was at the edge of the uncanney valley in the way it moved. This one seems a lot less human-like in its movement so doesn't conjure up those feelings for me.

One of the ways that I think Kotlin and Rust are objectively better than Java and C++ is in that they have saner defaults than their predecessors (like open/final and mut/const). I've lost count of how many talks I've wa

The payload is supposedly a corrupted xz file. An overzealous "replace spaces with tabs" formatter could easily cause this sort of corruption, so it seems like a perfectly reasonable test case.
