I'm also on 9.69.1 but I think my problem is that I'm running Android 5.0.1... Not sure why the options would differ between OS versions though.

How? Everyone says there is an option under "Notifications" but I only see "People & places" and "Ride services".

Disregarding the privacy issues, I find this to also be insanely annoying. I want notifications to be important. Not a bunch of spam that ultimately equates to advertising.

The current system appears to vastly under represent the young and poor and over represent the elderly. The politicians exist to represent everyone's interests so any statistical disconnect undermines the system.

More to the point, it takes time to notice, track, lock and (in some cases) get approval to fire. That gives you seconds to minutes to not only fire but for the missile to reach the intercept point. Missiles and radar tend to operate in a

Come to Colorado. Formerly the apex of flyover real estate. Now the location of million dollar 2000sqft houses. I see maps from as late as a decade ago with nothing on them where whole cities now exist.

I agree that it's a huge fluff piece. That said, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with setting up shop overseas like this. They're not going there and trashing the place, first and foremost. Money is be

No, worse. That thing would turn into the tumble dryer from hell with partial power. It has no blade pitch control (like a helicopter does), requiring power on the motors in all four corners to maintain stability. The real emergency situa

IIRC CBDR is not really in the FAA PPL curriculum at all. I only recall a quick mention from my CFI when I went through it. It's much more heavily emphasized to military pilots as missiles are designed to predict an impact point and

You don't need any 10x PhDs. You need some competent, well paid QA devs to go over the product and make sure the obvious stuff is working before you ship. I've heard of a bunch of companies cutting QA staff in the past year or

Couldn't agree more. The FAA-NTSB-NASA relationship doing the same thing works extremely well in the aerospace sector. The FAA creates the rules, NTSB investigates accidents and NASA handles "near miss" reporting, all worki

This is a really interesting point you bring up. I think the issue is that we look at air travel as inherently risky and as such want to do everything to reduce risk. Over the past 100 years we've come to deeply understand risk manage

Sorry to hijack this, but referring to your other comment, I also saw weird stuff going on today with posts getting flagged. Seems the bots and trolls have found our corner of the internet as well... Not sure what's going on exactly.

Sure, but that's on the receiver side for carrier recovery. Wouldn't it be problematic if you mashed a bunch of channels/allocations sufficiently close together that they started wandering on top of each other?

There's also the limitation of oscillator precision IIRC. 1ppm deviation is 1hz at 1mhz and 1khz at 1ghz

Keep in mind that comparing bandwidth between bands that are very far apart isn't super useful. You can easily select down to fractions of 1khz at 1mhz but not at 2.4ghz so 1.1mhz of bandwidth means something different at UHF vs HF&#x

Digital takes up less bandwidth per channel than FM. This allows the government to resell the frequency allocations. This is what happened with analog broadcast TV in the US.

To add to this, the closing speeds are so fast that you would need to detonate explosives far in advance for anything to happen anywhere near the target. If you detonate at the usual anti-aircraft distances (a few meters), the time it take

There are no FAA regulations regarding phones/electronic devices other than a blanket rule that you can only enable them with the permission of the captain. The rules regarding cellphone use on planes is from the FCC. They don't

Go in the editor and you can set units to "player" and "playable", playable meaning you can then switch to them in game from the map menu under I think "team".
