This is awesome. Mathematics struggles a lot from bad presentation, but this does an excellent job of taking well-known and interesting problems and explaining them (and their solution). Problem solving is a lot more fun than simply readi

Except that, in English, it's actually pronounced very similar to gorilla (the vowels may be slightly different, but the r and l sounds are normal English). I speak Spanish, and I'm aware that's how you say it in Spanish, bu

Agreed. Chrome 27 on Linux, and I get that message, but the demo actually runs fine.

Regarding the curated content option, I don't think that would be a good option for me. I come here to learn about the unusual and non-mainstream tech stuff. Of the 20 frameworks, it's true that I can only really learn one, but

I wonder how well this integrates with Racket? I see that it's built with Racket, but I'd be curious if I could mix and match this with all my Racket code.

Thank you for this response. If you don't mind me asking, why did you choose to start in Latin America? Was there some reason why your startup needed to be there? I know that utility outages can be a problem, but I don't think i

Well, the project I'm working on right now is a graphical programming project, but I'm not sure that it will end up as a startup (I plan to open source in a month or two). I really don't know what kind of startup I would do,

You're right -- this isn't, and won't ever be (as long as it stays with this technology) up to Bret's standards. However, Bret's stuff doesn't exist, and there's a reason for that: it's really hard.

Changing brightness is good. Also, tritanomaly (or tritanopia) is very rare (about 0.01% for either males or females vs 6% males and 0.4% females for dueteronomaly), so changing between blue and either green or red should be fine for almos

I don't think his main point is modifying the program using the interface. The important thing is the quick feedback loop. In his examples in Learnable Programing, you technically are editing in the same interface, but, really, you&#

I like this a lot. One thing I noticed is that on the video, the first change is on the background from green to red. As a deuteranomalous (color-blind) person, I really couldn't see the difference unless I watched really close while

I'm basically the tech guy for my church, and my parents are elders (we don't have a pastor, per se; we have four elder couples). I think that's an interesting idea. The first thing that jumps out at me is that it better be

I understand what you're saying. My hypothesis is that (some version of) Lisp itself, being a tree, could be interesting to visually edit. All my code, by the way, can be directly accessed from Racket (and vice-versa), so it's d

Yeah, I was really just letting my thoughts out in an almost stream-of-consciousness style. I posted to HN more just to see how the process works than because I thought people would actually read my post. After 9000 views (from both here

See, that's exactly the problem with graphical programs nowadays. My program is essentially a layer on top of Racket, so it's much closer to textual programming than it looks like at first glance.

Actually, I do have a prototype; I'm just not ready to release it yet. So, it's probably best to interpret this as a general discussion of the subject.

I've been spending all my time writing the code. Concept art isn't worth the time investment for me right now. I could post screenshots, but I don't think it's quite ready for that.

Hm, interesting. I've always pictured my Lisp programs as trees. I think it's a more useful representation, but I see what you mean. You're right that this is orthogonal to Rich Hickey's goal. That's because I th

Yup, that's exactly how vim works. I almost wish it were titled "VIM made easy". Except, of course, that it probably only makes any sense to those who already know vim.
