This boils down to the original confusion around hooks. Putting a sequence of useData / useState hooks inside a View component is just as "data-first" as wrapping a View component in HOCs for the api and app state. Ultimately

To carry the metaphor, iteration is not just about refactoring and optimizing, it’s mostly about debugging. Finding what isn’t working and trying something new. I wrote about how I use my programming logic to “debug my art”.* The same can b

When a forest burns, most of what burns is new growth: grass, leaves, needles, branches, etc. Rarely do trees fully incinerate, even in the hottest spots. I imagine the charred matchsticks left behind still contain the majority of a tree’s

Shannon loved to juggle and make non-sensical contraptions. One was a box with (a button? lever? I don't remember, let's go with button) that when pressed would open the lid. A mechanical arm would then pop out of the box and pres

That’s been my thought to date, just investing in air filters instead. We’ve got several. But we’re still not sure whether it’s a good idea to be there at all.

Another alternative: live trees! I normally hunt my own to cut in the hills, but a forest fire burned everything for miles... so we bought a spruce still in its pot from the nursery. It costs more and it’s smaller than our usual, but we’ll
