So glad I've found someone else who has this workflow. I spend probably 70% of my active coding time coding. The rest is using LLMs to keep making progress but give my brain a bit of a break while I recharge, being more supervisory wit

At the multinational level you never have to actually reshore anything. The corporation buys things, or you take loans at incredibly low interest rates using corporate assets as collateral. Using made up numbers, imagine you take out a $1M

It's bad enough to expect other people to change the way they communicate to make you feel better. It's another thing entirely when the way they're communicating is accurate and correct .

That may mean they're stupid but it still doesn't constitute bad faith. Do you know what "bad faith" means in this context?

The fact that someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're operating in bad faith.

"in the high cost of living areas" is the rest of that sentence. It is perfectly doable, even common, to buy a home in low and medium COL areas without any assistance from family, living or dead. The fact that you can't do th

Is "inheritance" used in a different way here similar to how "award" is, or are you saying you often need to inherit money from your family in order to be able to buy a house in Australia?

Who wouldn't be a fan of 80% of the work for 100% of the pay? It's a built-in raise equal to or greater than what you'd get from changing jobs, without the switch in seniority or experience.

No reasonable person considered high school advanced education in the 70's let alone 2000. If 85%+ of people get it for half a century, it is by definition not advanced. https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads

Which order did these things happen in? Maybe industry and highways increase lead exposure which leads to crime, or maybe areas already high in crime are cheaper so that's where industry and highways go?

I get what you're saying, and I agree that's how it feels but that doesn't necessarily mean that's how it is . I guarantee you there are companies in the US right now paying their full-time employees who work 40+ hour

You do though. The sibling comment's LWN link shows that if you don't accept rides, the price you're offered for rides increases. Edit: I'd love for this to be another thing to add to the list of reasons why Uber sucks.

This isn't wage theft though, which is by definition an illegal act. This is just price discrimination on the supply side instead of the demand side.

It's a bidding system. If nobody accepts a ride at $X, the offered price increases to $Y. Does Uber have a responsibility to maximize its employees' (in the general sense, not getting into the employee/contractor distinction)

Why is this unfair? If driver A needs to be incentivized to drive, and Uber needs more drivers, they should have to pay more. If driver B is driving no matter what why would Uber pay them more if not for retention or something?
