Whether this has a chance of working depends on the exact diameter of the narrow portions of the submerged route. My impression is that they were very narrow, perhaps too small for a rigid container containing a human?

Pokemon Go's AR was a joke, but the promise of AR was very real and compelling to people, so they were wildly successful and now have the resources to actually try and solve the technical problems for real. A lot of startups work this

This is really horrifying to me. My heart goes out to the working-class retail people who are going to have to spend their days chatting with the AI assistants of upper middle class people too busy to call themselves. If the shop owner gets

When the robo callers get this hell will be unleashed. The only remedy is we all have Duplex-like service answering the phone for us, and let them duke it out. Does Google say anywhere these were all real calls? Or did they call back to can

This still feels like search and not "talking" to anything. To me talking would require back-end-forth refinement. I wonder why they are releasing this only against books? Does it not work against the internet at large, or is it a

I wrote about this idea 8 years ago: http://www.kmeme.com/2010/10/future-of-googles-street-view.h... Will be interesting to see if it takes off. I think it might not work that well at first, but long term seems in

I think I've heard various sci-fi authors grousing it's hard to write these days because reality is so sci-fi and outlandish (Trump).

The end of George Dyson's classic article on Google goes: For 30 years I have been wondering, what indication of its existence might we expect from a true AI? Certainly not any explicit revelation, which might spark a movemen

It seems possible these particular articles fell out of Google's index for some other reason than they are not indexing "old" stuff. That's kind of a big leap to make without many more examples.

That looks like a bar graph not a heat map. A heat map to me means you have pixels or squares which are colored according to frequency or prevalence.

The article says "Gates is only other person to have built 13-figure fortune" but isn't $100B a 12-figure fortune? I suggested we count zeros instead which would make Bezos a level 11 and Gates a high level 10: http:/&#

I agree by numerical value the difference is huge and under appreciated. But like many things wealth is correctly perceived logarithmically not linearly. There aren't hundreds of shades of gray between a millionaire and a billionaire,

This is a decent article but I strongly dislike the title. The phrasing "we aren't built for" is so pessimistic, as if being mindful (living in the moment) is hopeless or unachievable, or even undesirable or harmful. Thousand

It says you can only share your entire screen. That's fine from a laptop, but if you have a 4k/5k display sharing to people with laptops, wouldn't the text be unreadable? Sharing just a single window is the standard solution

What is the solution here? Is google supposed to judge for every snippet whether or not it's beneficial for the wider internet? Seems like they cannot objectively make that call. Should rich snippets be illegal? The article presents a
