Interesting the CEO of Google can walk through CES undetected. What makes a business leader go from anonymous to celebrity? The press probably over-focuses on the celebrity types who probably only account for a fraction of important decisio

I was stunned this is BF. Great long form profile. I was wondering if maybe the content is shared / re-run under some other brand as well or if BF can afford to do this in depth stuff itself.

The cool animation at the top of the page over-sells what this site is providing by a factor of 1000. I was expecting some type of neat morphing between various logos over time.

I like the buildup here with "Antifragile". Sounded very cool and I was eager to see how it would apply to "Idea Generation". But Carmack's 5 steps seem to boil down to "Try to tear down ideas before you imple

It took me a while to understand what you did here. I was waiting for some kind of subtitles showing the recognition ability. But you are saying you performed speech recognition on the full video then edited it according to where the words

I think the argument about consciousness is vacuous. Searle admits we might create an AI which acts 100% like a human in every way. Nothing Searle says stands in the way of creating intelligent or super-intelligent entities. All Searle is s

The photo labeling feature is a dancing bear. Yes it's impressive it dances at all, but it's quite bad it it. I have tons of kids soccer pictures they were labeled Football, Rugby Football, Baseball and Golf. Worse though it does

I'm surprised the main timeline is a flat list. I have 30,000+ photos and sometimes have 300 photos of the same event. It's impossible to browse the overall contents with every photo shown. I created a prototype[1] 5 years ago of

I think having no immediate stressors is what frees the mind. Part of our brain loves stimulation but to function with massive amounts of stimulation our brain has to work hard to surpress our impulses. Walking is just one way to do that. A

The purpose of the silent tracks is to generate publicity. This is not a genuine attempt to conduct a scam. It also makes it convenient if spotify docks them for the bogus plays. Finally this way they can see if their actual tracks are gain

What he doesn't emphasize is the directionality of this phase transition. It's really easy to add one more string, but staring at the resulting button-thread agglomeration it's very difficult to know what string to cut. This

That's cheap, it's a special cube. And it took it 60 seconds just to grok the starting position. I would like to see a robot where you can toss it one mixed-up cube per second, and it solves them and tosses them back.
