Yeah I agree with this. I’ve used MacOS for a while and am intrigued by Apple Silicon. But for the prices they’re charging, I need it to do everything. I don’t game much, but I do want to game _some_. I’m thinking about going back to Window

This is my dream for a strong social safety net, maybe up to a UBI. If you could actually provide for people’s basic needs by default, people would lean in to passion projects like these. I think these are some of the most wonderful parts o

This article is an interesting complement to the “age of average” article that was trending here a few days ago. In the late 60s folks wanted to be a bit different, pushing against the conformity of the 50s. And they did that in part by… bu

That’s what went wrong with Alexa. They figured people would buy stuff via voice, but nobody trusted it for that.

Agree that Alpaca is Important. I got the smallest one running on a pathetic notebook… 2 cores, 8GB RAM. It was slow. It was sloppy. But it worked. Getting these things running on GPU/NPU will be very compelling, especially if we don’t

Could be a good thing. Maybe this is the push the world needs to create a business model around providing useful information without surveillance capitalism smeared on top.

Yes, but other orgs have similar resources. Most obvious is Google/Deepmind. Apple too. Neither of them made this leap.

Interesting. Maybe they just wanted to publish quickly and didn’t take the time to benchmark across? Seems like a miss. M2 NPU is supposed to be 44% better than M1 https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/article/apple_m2_vs_

Oh, that could be fun. I’ll give it a spin. I’m working on a something like a structured-data first wiki. Most users will be unauthenticated read-only, served well by a static site. A smaller population will submit new data and edits. Submi

Do you have any additional information to share about the hosting service? Will this be a static host, a Python-first PaaS, an education-focused REPL environment, etc?

Seems like that should just be a warning in the docs, since mostly we’re talking about trusted code written by the dev…. Although maybe that’s untrusted from your perspective as a PaaS? What’s the escape hatch to write custom HTML in the Py

Same. I use Edge at work because it’s less evil than chrome and I’m logging into O365 anyway. Firefox for personal stuff. I haven’t had too many problems with Edge myself. I use Kagi for search without issue. Don’t see any native ads. It’s

I’m conflicted about this. Sourcehut, Codeberg, etc are great. But having everything I’m looking for on GitHub is extremely convenient. I use the “Add to List” function extensively for bookmarking.
