Interesting. I’m a little surprised they went with Electron instead of a Go portable GUI toolkit like Fyne or something. Electron is a safe choice, but it seems odd to take such a big dependency when you’re doing stuff like reimplementing G

Very cool! I enjoy listing to music in spatial audio formats… more immersive than stereo and takes advantage of a setup I put some effort into. Up mixing works ok-ish, but native is better. Sometimes the 3D stuff is a gimmick, and I underst

Thanks for sharing this! I loved music visualizers back in the day and have been missing them. I wonder if there’s a way to package this into a TVOS app…

Exactly this. I selected a few folks to follow “when they join threads” and then went to the app. My timeline is full of stuff. Who are these people? Why are they in my feed? Don’t love it.

I’d be interested in a prosumer version of this that ditches the LTE and cloud system for wall power + WiFi or (ideally) PoE with a fully local backend via home assistant

Ah, they changed RHEL Source visibility from Public to subscribers only to make it harder for Rocky Linux, et al to provide strong compatibility. Lame. https://www.phoronix.com/news/Red-Hat-CentOS-Stream-Sources

Do you think that could be addressed by certification or curation? For example, an org that reviews mobile games and gives them a stamp if they’re not exploitative. Maybe somebody will start a “real games” App Store on the other side of all

Honest question: how do along “strong privacy policy” with “we use GPT-4”? My understanding is that anything you hit an OpenAI API with can and will be used as training material for future public models. Thus it’s not safe to use their APIs
