Not a great story but also not as hysterical as the headline implies. 1. Man/most/all wirecutter links are relatively benign "affiliate" links, mostly to Amazon. 2. Wirecutter updates review, usually annually, and freque

I didn't downvote but I feel that you are downplaying Bret and to a lesser extent Eric more than is warranted. The mice thing if I understand correctly is more than just that they aren't generally great test subjects. Eric's

Not necessarily. I think it’s a combination of easy money and lack of understanding of net income.

This seemed pretty obvious when all the stories were about cannabis vaping, not nicotine. And now vaping is thought to be unhealthier than tobacco smoking.

Clearly to take advantage of hiding how tipping works in order to pay less.

It's fascinating that the pay is dismal and yet there are too many drivers. I'm guessing partly because few understand their expenses and net pay. And some really do value the ability to work whenever.

Didn't sound very basic. "butt-purchasing" sounds like quite a stretch. And Taleb is a confirmed provocateur.

Ferraris start at $215k vs Roadster at $250k. I don't think the comp is as bad as you suggest. More appropriate than GM/Ford.

Ferrari is at 8. Edit: not sure why the downvote. Ferrari has a $32.7b market cap on $3.7b in annual revenue for 8.8x. Tesla has $93b market cap on $24.5b in annual revenue for 3.8x.

That's a little miss-leading because Ford's EV includes a lot of debt for car loans & leases which tend to get paid back by someone else and are secured by the cars.

Here's a better comparison (another company where owners love their cars): Tesla built 35x as many cars as Ferrari and is valued at 3x. Tesla trades at 4x sales, Ferrari at 8x. Having been in business longer is not always advantage and

I don't understand why this is such a complicated category and that many platforms do not have solid http clients in standard library. On every single project I do, it's just a bunch of posting JSON and getting a response synchron

The 35% of the fare that Uber keeps has very little marginal expenses associated with it. Lyft’s contribution margin is over 50%.

Drivers definitely have a preference since the incentives are all volume based. Even riders generally skew to one preferred service.

Uber’s core Rides business has huge margins and one of the most powerful network effects in business (that’s why you see only 1 or 2 neverchanging players in mature markets).

It's not always clear to be in these types of stories if the money actually changed hands. Just because it was invoiced, doesn't mean that's actually what was transacted.
