I didn't downvote but I feel that you are downplaying Bret and to a lesser extent Eric more than is warranted. The mice thing if I understand correctly is more than just that they aren't generally great test subjects. Eric's apparent telomere discovery and the evolution of the Jax mice make for a very striking case of inadequacy.
