The Soundcloud track at the bottom is even more intriguing. In the footer it has my location and weather displayed too... even creepier (I turned off ublock to see if there was other stuff on this page).

I'm curious how this affects file sizes? I like my static binaries and portability, but I fear this would make things balloon quite a bit to get the same broad distribution. I've been planning on using an embedded webkit + html ap

Stored Procedures have been around for a long time, so it's very easy to put some business logic closer to your database without resorting to the level of integration suggested by the post.

I really disagree with this - separation of concerns is incredibly important. Why does the database server need to do everything my application server does now? I don't want to have to know about how my database works internally just t

We are working on this from another angle - sequencing plants to map out nutrient biosynthesis pathways. Then determining how those nutrients affect human health. With that info we can start doing "personalized nutrition" such as

Wasn't the Informix Database effectively an operating system? I'm sure it wasn't the only one. This paper makes it sound like they're the only one.

I made a similar comment on the reddit post. This seems like something handled better by interfaces. In my experience, whenever I end up writing a large type switch on an interface I take it as a code smell. All those cases should be an int
