Stripe uses mongodb, if its good enough for them, its probably fine for financial info. As I recall, there is some aspect of mongodb that lets it scale up without maintainance, making it good for a service that just can't go down.

It took me a long time to find the special girl for me. If you approach dating as "any girl will do", then I feel sorry for the girl that ends up with you. I don't know how you translated "wanting to hire people who want to work here" into

I'm hiring at the moment for CircleCI, and if you don't have a reason to work with us, that's a real red flag. That says you have no particular interest in the job, which means you either don't care about what we're building or what our cus

I don't think Google can realistically do that, both from a tech and a PR standpoint.

Love this http://www.datemymate.co.nz/blog/main/Date_this_Mate_ - it really shows why the concept can work. You can't write a salespitch like that about yourself!

I've now been writing clojure for 18 months, and its definitely my least-hated language (python is a distant 2nd, coffeescript a distant 3rd).

Maybe, but they probably have 5 years of cash, so I personally wouldn't worry about it. There can be a new BFDL should the unthinkable happen, so long as the code is open source.

Totally agree. We built a PaaS entirely in Clojure ( https://circleci.com ) and its absolutely a grown-up language. I was unsure when we started (my cofounder has been using Clojure since 2008 and was adamant that this was a good idea), but

Totally agree about flaming out hard. I wrote [1] after my last startup failed. It was actually two months between when it failed and when I could face actually writing it. However, it's professionally one of the best things I ever did. [1]

This seems like it will paint the Android core developers into a corner, supporting this particular hack for years to come, like the way Microsoft had to for Windows. If I were android core developers, this would not be a good day.
