Actually, I agree that providing all that telemetry information to any "mechanic" who asks is a huge privacy concern, and potentially dangerous. However, that really raises the question of why the manufacturers should be trusted w

In C++ I would consider the best option in those cases would be for the function that performs the operation to return an error rather than throw an exception. That way you avoid the race condition, but also don't have to worry about t

In C++ the convention is that exceptions shouldn't be used for things you expect to happen in the normal execution of the program, in a way that would harm performance. For example, it is better to explicitly check if an item is in a m

The hardest part about this for me is that I often feel like that is the only time I will get to chime in. If I give myself time to think about it - whether it is important enough to discuss, and if so how to do so productively - the conver

I can't think of any time where I have needed the same script to run on multiple systems, because that's not the sort of thing I use shell scripts for. But there are many times where I have needed to write a script for a specific

The naming is confusing, but the "super cruise" feature of GM vehicles predates the founding of Cruise. I have no knowledge of whether there has been cross-pollination between the two teams since GM acquired Cruise.

Both my cars have that misfeature, but vary in details. Both take just long enough to start playing that they usually start blaring music as I'm backup up. Nor have I found any way to disable the feature on either. It took months for m

Agreed about the communal disease. For the toxins though, it is all about dose and I could see this program increasing that by at least an order of magnitude. No idea whether it would add up to significant levels though.

In general, vaccines do lower transmission, by decreasing the viral load and duration of infection. Of course when you are dealing with a mutation that the vaccine has low effectiveness against, that is all out the window.
