Commodore, the owner of Amiga, was an American company but they had factories in Europe.

The Amiga was much bigger in Europe/UK than the US, though. The Apple II would be an example of the opposite.

Here’s a nice overview: https://kashw1n.com/blog/nodejs-2025/ It doesn’t cover everything, but as an old-school Node user I found several interesting features I didn’t know about.

Payroll tax is paid by the employees, not the company. As for property tax, didn’t SpaceX move to its remote Texas location (“Starbase”) specifically to avoid taxes and regulations and to run its own company town.

Is that a recursive loop? The president thinks that’s how it works because the president said so on TV. I can believe that kind of reinforcement happens. Trump watches Fox News, sees himself saying X, and thinks “yes, it’s very good that {X

I suppose the charitable interpretation is that Trump favors transactions that offer short-term benefits to the country, rather than America’s traditional investments into long-term goals that tend to be more nebulous (“soft power” etc.) Of

The article specifically defines the rationalists it’s talking about: “The rationalist community was drawn together by AI researcher Eliezer Yudkowsky’s blog post series The Sequences, a set of essays about how to think more rationally.”

A very interesting read. My idea of these self-proclaimed rationalists was fifteen years out of date. I thought they’re people who write wordy fan fiction, but turns out they’ve reached the point of having subgroups that kill people and exo

Protected mode on the 286 was seriously flawed. It couldn’t run most existing DOS real mode applications without resetting the CPU, and it didn’t make it easy to access the new features. You now had a 16MB address space (up from 1MB on the

$50B / month in tariff revenue is entirely paid by Americans. Meanwhile Trump is adding trillions in debt. And if the “reshoring” of manufacturing actually succeeds to any degree, tariff revenue will only go down. It’s like a diet plan

Hoitoaine is actually two words, “hoito” = treatment + “aine” = substance. So you know a bit more Finnish than you thought!

Why is it BQN instead of BQM? Clearly the idea was to increment every letter from APL, but then they had to go one further on the third letter.
