If you mean homeless shelters, yes, but they're horrible and most homeless (or underhoused) people would rather live in a tent than go there. The justifications given are usually assault, thievery, and not being able to bring any perso

I was born in the US and lived abroad for 10 years before returning recently. It was a big and very demoralizing culture shock when I returned and, being in the habit of being friendly to strangers, saw how withdrawn and mistrusting people

You definitely are making a moral argument, even if that isn't your intention. There is no meaningful way to define "outside the norm", so it becomes a synonym for "unnatural" and a proxy for individual prejudices.

I didn't downvote you, but "I believe the research supports my position" is functionally equivalent to "that's my gut feeling". I'd be interested in seeing any research you've encountered that caused

You can send your designs to ponoko for small batches. Much cheaper than buying a laser cutter unless you plan to scale up.

I’ll give my counter-anecdote. I have made three close friends at work who I frequently talk to about relationship issues, etc, and would happily help them move a couch if they asked. One of them is currently my roommate. I’m 41, so these t

One of my most frustrating interview experiences was when the lead engineer constantly interrupted me in the middle of my answers, clearly looking to get an answer that confirmed his existing opinions, then stopped the interview because we

How much game piracy happens these days? Since steam became such a good distribution platform and my internet connection got fast I haven’t even thought about pirating a game. AAA titles are expensive, but there aren’t a ton of them release

I think it goes deeper than that. They practically defined the 2010s electro genre, with heavy use of aggressive synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders for nearly all the vocals. RAM was cleaner, more understated, and very, very slick. Y

I upvoted you because people shouldn't be downvoting you for having a different opinion. People, downvotes are for low effort comments, not because you disagree!
