And yet many of the sites I build have majority mobile traffic. It's borderline incompetent to ignore the mobile ux these days.

Have you tried writing a chrome extension and running it in a desktop browser instance? It's super easy to set up and shouldn't appear any different than a regular user if you rate limit and add some randomness to the input events

When I'm doing personal scraping, I just write a chrome extension. You can find boilerplates that are super easy to set up, and they persist in a background thread between page loads. It's really easy to collect the data and log i

Don't be discouraged by the spiteful kneejerk reactions in this thread. HN is a diverse place and some commenters get triggered by an association with one of their pet peeves and launch into a rant without taking time to assess the nua

I think that's unjustified and a little rude. OP is providing an automated service for publicly accessible data that isn't accessible for automation. If the sources are notified and they are operating within the confines of the la

There's inkdrop. The iOS app is pretty limited but it syncs with the desktop app and has an electron (I know, I know) app for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's extendable with plugins. I've been using it for a couple of months an

There's an interesting reason for this related to the ASCII table and bit shifting, but I can't find a description of the exact mechanism for it. H and [ are in the same column as escape and delete respectively, and control shifts

Are your sure it wasn't control? I know the ADM terminals were set up that way and they even had the arrows on HJKL.

Do yourself a favor and figure out how to bind caps lock to press for escape, hold for control. I use a programmable keyboard (web search for QMK if you're interested) but there are software options too. You'll never look back and

I already do this with hue white LED bulbs and timers in the app. I love how the blue mid day light looks like natural sunlight, and in the evening it's a nice warm glow. I have it fade to dark between 9pm and midnight, so I know it&#x

That's a definition of webpage, but you don't explain why webpages aren't a subset of apps. I saw your comment pre-edit, which said that an app has to be downloaded to a user's device to run, but that also doesn't e

To understand why people appear to not care you have to imagine seeing that grinding human despair twice a day, every day, on your way to and home from work. The only way to deal with it is to ignore it, because it's so horrible. Then

With the hindsight of 20 years in the industry I believe a lot of it is due to team churn. Once the original developers are all gone much of the codebase becomes a scary black box. When I think about teams I've worked on with an OG dev

I would add to that by saying that governments should meet half way and standardize road markings designed for CV. In that scenario the worst thing an attacker could do is paint patterns that confuse the car, but they can do that already.

Honest question: if liveView does catch on in a big way, what will the front end developers do? I can't see the huge FED community going back to writing HTML and CSS templates. I wonder if that resistance will hurt adoption.
