Right, and I think it's the negative stigma of the former ("jobless") than the latter ("living with parents"). Multi-generational family cohabitation is nothing new and still the norm in many parts of the world. The

Totally agree, the Pixel 4a 5G for $200 less ($499) seems to be the better value. Effectively you're just paying for 90hz screen, 2GB+ RAM, IP68 rating, wireless charging, but also losing the 3.5mm headphone jack and a bit screen real

Initially it seems like a clone of Google Stadia: the controller, the native integration to Alexa and Twitch, and even the product tiers features (e.g. 1080p, 4k addon). Key difference is that it's a native game subscription service, m

I thought for a second you were joking about Intel strongARMing its OEMs against AMD... They also had Merrifield and Moorefield back in 2014 for the smartphone market. Not as good as Snapdragons but not terrible. Makes you wonder what if In

Agreed that bandwidth and latency remains a challenge for most people today, especially for non-urban dwellers. For streaming to be the norm, there has to be a fundamental change in how ISPs treat internet connectivity and how the governmen

Having just watched Netflix vs. the World documentary ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8407418/ ) last week, this acquisition seems to be inevitable as game streaming is taking off and will eventually become the defac

I like your portrayal here, though Epic is acting in their self-interest to maximize their own profits/revenue rather than being the "knight in shiny armor" for consumers everywhere. Apple just happens to be the biggest targe

Reading reddit forums this morning, it seems individual consumers didn't even get a chance to order - sites like Bestbuy went from "Notify when in stock" to "Out of stock" at 6am PST (supposed preorder open date).

A couple of major reasons compared to the Xbox Series X: - Sony's CPU + GPU are slightly higher clocked than Microsoft's, which typically means special binning required and increases costs (Bloomberg story collaborates on this: h

This pricing was inevitable and Sony very likely taking a loss to stay competitive with Xbox Series X. Microsoft had first mover advantage and set the price floor + ceiling with their earlier announcements. The question becomes how large of

I suspect so too, the pricing seems to hint at this - the previous gen Air started at $499 whereas this is $100 more at $599. Now this creates a fair big pricing gap between entry level iPad at $329. Going to be interesting in how Apple pos

Me too! It seems very odd (nouveau?) that Apple is announcing a new A-series chip (A14) with an iPad, rather than an iPhone. Even more so that it's not even a Pro version. Eyeing the A14 vs. the A12X/A12Z, it look like it could be

My initial reaction is that this reminiscent of the AMD-ATI deal back in 2006. It almost killed both companies and comparatively, this deal size is much bigger ($40B vs. $6B) for both a more mature industry and companies involved. $40B is a

I think Epic absolutely needs other major game studios, and major software companies, to join in their protest to effect the desired change. Interesting point about the looming iOS14 update. Makes you wonder whether Apple will ultimately fa

Is there any credence to the size of the EU fine being $5-10B? Even $10B seems a bit lenient given the size of Apple and its revenue/profits. There would need to be a feature change in addition to a fine, otherwise it'd just treat

Was thinking the same. If the reason is to give Apple's ad services team time to make the adjustments, then that seems another strike on antitrust grounds. Timing not great to say the least.

Mia culpa as others pointed out, the i7-10710U was a Comet Lake part rather than Ice Lake. Seems even more glaring then that Intel had a 6-core U-series chip and now no longer offers one. That said, also agreed with everyone that core count

Right, that's perhaps a glaring omission. Last year's (Ice Lake) i7-10710U was a 6-core, 12-thread part with a TDP of 25W. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/196448&#

Weird to see this "partial" announcement - since it's mostly for the U-series chips (up to 28W TDP). This suggests that Intel must really be getting pressure to release something competitive against AMD's Renoir offering

This might be an unpopular opinion, but is the new RTX 3070 at $499 and RTX 3080 at $699 really such good value? Sure it's being marketed as 70-90% better performance at the same price but the value proposition is mainly in comparison
