This is unironically the best post in HN history. All these jabronies crying about not liking technology anymore or whatever and this guy is asking the real questions. Obviously I think you want another weekend day between Sunday and Monday

I actually don't think it's good to ask for feedback. Mainly for the reason you said here: > They're more like dates than exams It's much better to look at your own performance critically than to trust the feedback yo

You understand that this is a job interview working as intended? You may be awesome at the work but your values do not align with the company’s and it’s best if you don’t work there.

Again, I’m not saying that job related questions are bad. I’m saying that these types of questions can be good. You can ask more than 1 type of question!

From the comment I was replying to: > Unless it is for a position I really, really want, or are unemployed and every opportunity counts, that is usually where the interview ends for me This person is close minded and is filtering themsel

I think those questions are good ways to assess open mindedness, estimation, and verbal communication skills. There are other ways to assess those skills, sure. But questions like that aren’t bad ways.

> He didn’t get the job because even though the technical attributes were all good, he should have pressured the customer. 1) Is this word for word what they told him? 2) If so, why did he believe them?

How do you verify that books and websites and videos are not giving you erroneous content? You trust some and distrust others at face value based on prior experience and what you want to believe. Sometimes you check after the fact and somet

There’s probably some downside to drinking 14 cold brews a week, too. Everything’s a risk if you look hard enough.

I think it’s more that life isn’t that serious and if someone wants an interview bad enough get the tattoo and don’t cry about how life is unfair or that YC sucks.

Tattoo was $375-ish (I paid) and cold brew is $5.50. I kind of saw it as a hedge against inflation as well. Figured they’d be $7 before too long. I got the tattoo done by the artist who designed it (the shop puts up a lot of local art). She

They didn’t say they weren’t going to interview untattooed people. It’s a lame stunt but this is just looking for something to get upset over. I would do it if the company was one I was excited about. I’m 45-ish and got my first tattoo this

It's so funny that you say this because I 100% agree. I have a Remarkable tablet (several of them in fact) and the people on /r/remarkabletablet are always looking for ways to complicate their Remarkables with KOReader or any

So Anthropic makes a new model, Qwen or whoever learns how it works and makes their model nearly (but not quite) as good and then sells it back to Anthropic? Like the soap-making scene in Fight Club.

To me, this (whether or not “content” is a good word to use) is very similar to Comic Sans discourse. The stronger you feel about it and the more you seem to enjoy sharing your opinions on it, the less interesting you become.

I mean employees pushing for remote work is a status and power play, too. I’d imagine self-centered employees don’t like being told where to work either. Office work isn’t objectively bad and remote work isn’t objectively good. If you like
