I am a big proponent of IR over CEC or (shudder) Bluetooth. IR is wireless by default, there's almost no input latency, and it's open enough where you can get a universal remote like Harmony and do anything you want. CEC on the fl

Kind of a tangent question, but is Bluetooth ever going to improve?

I cut my teeth as a WordPress dev and left the scene for .NET when it was still popular to use Vagrant to setup your dev environment. While I'm glad things have progressed since then, I have a trauma response to those days. The amount

I wonder if there's an issue with exhaust and radiation, like not wanting irradiated gas to escape into the atmosphere more than it already is.

The baseline 14" MacBook Pro that costs $1600 has 8GB of shared RAM. That's not enough. I don't believe OP is talking about machines better suited for your task, machines in the $1k range.

It doesn't surprise me. There are parts of Microsoft that are almost completely supported by the community. You've provided an improvement to their product for free. It's not like they're making money on it directly, and

As long as enterprise exists, I don't know that what you're proposing is an eventuality. Regardless, if it truly gets to the point where you can't disable it, no, I would look for options to switch. Not because of ads, but be

I didn't like it when they first changed it, but I'm used to it now. Is it better? Nope. Is it worse? A bit. Worth writing off an entire OS? Nope.

I like Windows 11. Windows 10 feels old in comparison, especially with many system settings living in Control Panel. I use a dev drive, I like my dark mode notepad and taskman, I love having a modern Terminal and winget, and frnakly I pay f

This is the actual trend. The percentage of Windows 10 machines is growing, Windows 11 isn't magically losing users to downgrades or people shifting to another platform.

Are you using Blazor Hybrid or are you going native? I've been trying to learn Avalonia and already moved away from ReactiveUI in favor of MVVM. My server application is built in Blazor, so kinda wondering how well concepts transfer ov

I've had these ERP struggles for the past 5 years as we've been going through our migration to Dynamics 365. The harsh reality is there are an insane amount of ERP solutions out there, and most of them are objectively terrible to

I would argue that XSDs and namespacing are pretty much a necessity when you're trying to represent structured data. I agree that DTD and especially XSLT can be painful, but they're certainly more optional. Being able to generate

Not at the moment. We use recycled 4-6th gen i5 all-in-ones so everything runs off the iGPU. It basically limits us to games that were released up until 2006. We _do_ play Far Cry, though.

As a longtime observer of the scene, no. Creating the smallest board possible while maintaining original game compatibility are about the only metrics to stick to. Usually this boils down to keeping the CPU, GPU, NAND (if exists like the Wi

It was great seeing this in person at MGC this year. Every year the Bitbuilt guys seem to somehow make the Wii smaller and smaller. It's insanity.

Windows 11 changed the OOBE to have users sign in, though this can be bypassed fairly easily if you're tech-literate. Sometimes for installs I'll bypass, other times I'll log in with a Microsoft account, then create a local u

The Piko Interactive business with acquiring the brand is basically never going to happen. When I was developing BleemSync for the PlayStation Classic, I got a very informal C&D from Piko over the use of the name "Bleem". IIRC

You'd be hard pressed to find a 25 gig NIC on a consumer motherboard. This wasn't really the case for gig hardware in 2004.
