In the PHP world I'd argue most developers don't use an IDE, let alone a debugger. Setting a debugger up with Xdebug or ZendDebugger is also not easy for those less experienced with setting up the actual PHP environment.

Speaking of iCloud, Apple now is able to make money when your machine dies in two expensive ways: large capacity iCloud subscriptions and a brand new machine. Now that's courage.

That and Apple being able to introduce security via obscurity means we'll probably never see a non-Apple OS on the platform.

The problem with the T2 is if it fails in any way, you now lose access to your all of your data and your motherboard is rendered useless. At best it turns your computer into a large piece of e-waste. It's also a fairly powerful ARM CPU

One of the biggest problems with absolute data loss for current Apple machines is the T2 chip dying.

It's fine that Apple is moving to ARM. It's not okay that this is going to be a proprietary, locked down CPU. T2 has shown that Apple customers no longer own their hardware.

An actual debugger. I started as a PHP/WP dev and spent many hours running results through echo or var_dump. IMO the debugger is the absolute first thing you need to learn about the platform you're writing for. Without it, you

I'm a JS/PHP dev turned C# dev and I really just hate having to touch JS these days. For some internal systems we've needed to do some JS to customize Microsoft's Dynamics 365 platform. I opted to write everything in C#

I'm glad that EA is doing this. I certainly don't think we should expect it, but I hope releasing source becomes standard. With more and more games moving to SaaS and microtransaction-heavy, I feel like the core of the game doesn&

Interesting to hear. I haven't gotten the new interface yet, so time will tell. I think we need to shift back to 4:3 displays. Widescreen is great for consuming content, but we lose so much vertical space.
