I get this. I only ever buy used and never buy newer than '05. You are relegated to what was popular 20 years ago.

That's true, it's part of why I won't buy new vehicles. My Suburban is from 2003 and is definitely off-road worthy.

I don't really care much what others do but I am interested in the "why" of it. I have an SUV. Last week we had to ford a 20' wide, 3' deep creek. If I had the alternative (minivan) we wouldn't have been able t

The world has had "zero energy" homes for like fifty years now in the form of earthships, but government entities have prevented them from reaching a wider audience because of laws which prohibit most non-stickframe homes.

Might there be yet another core (YAC) inside of this new one? Seems that if this was hard to detect the next one will be all the more difficult to find.

Can't speak to the Christian angle, though probably not an "Inquisition" that term is for when Catholics tried "cleaning house" and I think it may have been a one-off thing in Spain. Any way, what I wanted to say wa

That's fair. Our only really dangerous snake is a cottonmouth. Even our rattlers and copperheads are mostly nonlethal and nonaggressive. I was limbing a tree in the pasture, looked down after dropping a limb and a copperhead was just s

When you look at those darkness maps where I live is about as dark as the darkest places in the USA. For us the moon is the real light pollution. Accidentally look at the moon directly and your night vision is shot for a few minutes.

Half the month, in really dark places, the moon is sufficient.

I live in one of the darkest locations in the USA. We are nearly tied with some places out west in the desert. Still have not gotten over the night sky. You spend enough years out here seeing it every night, expecting it to eventually be so

I wonder what's the longest period in human history in which someone was not predicting the imminent demise of humanity... it's like a very small period.

Ya our jumbo horseflies can take a lot before the don't get up. I use to go out and swat them off my cattle and they'd shake it off and come right back. I now pull a wing off and leave them on the ground. Their remaining wing buzz

I wonder if we just call the "deer fly" a "horsefly" here. We (Missouri, USA) have the little horseflies (maybe a 1/2") and then the giant horseflies (biggest I've caught was 3").

Are deer flies a biting fly? We've got flies that bite, but I am only vaguely aware of the term deer fly.

I'd love a four day work week so I can have an extra day to work on other things. I'd also be happy with 5 or 6 hour days, or even just saying, "you're an adult, get your work done then get out of here."

You should consider asking someone who cares and believes this. I literally just thought the other guy was being uncharitable. Taxation as theft ain't my hill to die on.

Mostly historic, federal income tax was illegal until the early 1900s. The other difference, as I understand (not well versed in this it's not my pet-problem, I just like to understand something of what drives others to think what they

I'm assuming OP meant income tax. Those who say "taxation is theft" (Ron Paul's tribe) are referring to the Federal income tax exclusively. It's a catchy phrase that isn't descriptive enough. But too be fair, &
