Thanks a lot for the explanation. If I can ask one more question, why don't Ollama use binaries of pre-built llama.cpp with Vulkan support directly?

At the risk of being pedantic (I don't know much about C++ and I'm genuinely curious), if Ollama is really just a wrapper around Llama.cpp, why would it need the Vulkan specific flags? Shouldn't it just call Llama.cpp and let

I guess git and GitHub are working as intended then. This is not a sarcastic comment. I'm genuinely happy that this was the outcome.

Ok I was looking at the repo from mobile and missed the releases. Still it's not immediate obvious from README that there is an option to download it. There are instructions on how to build it, but not how to download it. Or maybe I&#x

Ok assuming what you said is correct, why wouldn't Ollama then be able to support Vulkan by default out of the box? Sorry I'm not sure what's the relationship exactly between the two projects. This is a genuine questions, not

Could it be that supporting multiple platforms open up more support tickets and adds more work to keep the software working on those new platforms? As someone who built apps for Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS and Android, it is not trivial to e

It's worth mentioning the fact that you need to adjust the context window manually for coding tasks (default 2k is not enough for coding tasks). Here's how to run deepseek-r1:14b (DeepSeek-R1-Distill-Qwen-14B) and set it to 8k con

Haha no worries. This is a perfectly valid use case of LLM. I'm happy that the comment sounds very professional and to the point.

Btw completely off topic, but your comment triggered the internal classification in my brain, and it looks like AI-generated. Not accusing you anything. Could be that you happen to write in a way similar to LLMs. Could be that we are influe

I do believe on a macro level there will be more software engineering jobs in the short term (which is not contradictory to software engineers being laid off from some companies as part of AI workforce reshuffling among companies). However

The counter argument is that if business can always find more projects that brings in revenue, they would not be laying off people, or shutting down. The reality is business can't really just scale their revenue by adding more profitab

I think the two different sides of the view is really just a matter of perspective and definition. Do you view the next evolution of software engineering with AI as still software engineering? Or do you think it's something else that r

I think someone needs to "manage" these AI engineers still, to supervise them working, and review code, PRs. It's less about personal development, but more on performance management.

One possible reason is that I'm using popular tech stacks (Next.js, HTML/JS for demo website and SDK). No niche frameworks or tools like nbdev (I've never heard of that). Also I've been prompting ChatGPT and Claude for o

Thanks. I think I have a better understanding now (those concepts like transit, peering are still hard to grasp for me as an outsider). Basically if you host content that many consumers want, you have leverage against ISPs?

I can sort of intuitively see why that's the case, but any concrete or specific reasons on why "popular" companies don't pay? The linked Wikipedia article doesn't really explain the reason behind it.

They use a mixture of web rendering stack and native rendering stack. See my other comment. There are also more architectural diagrams thst illustrate the layers in the links I posted in my original comment.

I agree that numbers alone might not mean much, but I do think B2C apps with millions of users have a higher bar in terms of design and polish compared to B2B/ERP apps. Also, fixed typo!

I think the key idea is not the renderer layer, but the concept of DSL so that it can run on multiple platforms natively. To go back to your question. WeChat actually has two sets of renderers for mini programs, one based on webview, and on
