I hate that these days it is not clear what is meant by "crypto" without having more context. Because usually they want to kill the wrong kind of crypto.

I'm still on a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760, but I have a 4k monitor (X11, desktop). Perfectly smooth in Chromium browsers, but YouTube and Street View are basically unusable in Firefox. Before when I had a Full HD monitor it was usable in F

Video and WebGL (Google Maps Street View/GeoGuesser) are a slideshow under Firefox on Linux, because they do compositing in software on Linux (copying the video buffer back and forth between GPU and RAM). That's the whole reason w

If they do less work, i.e. not write a GUI, but just provide a command line tool you can suddenly automate things and it all gets much easier to use. Anyway, I then wrote my own tools and put them on GitHub. And documented the reverse engin

Funny thing: When I view that image and zoom in on my 4k monitor it is somehow interpolated. I have a bookmarklet that sets the style `image-rendering: pixelated` and when I click that it suddenly gets much brighter. That interpolation does

When using vfork() what are you allowed to do? Can you even do IO redirection (piping)? The man page says: > ... the behavior is undefined if the process created by vfork() either modifies any data other than a variable of type pid_t use

Yes, of course. Did remember its not fork(), but some other *fork() and couldn't remember the name. But just the kind of thing it does. Its also not exec(), but probably execvp() or execvpe() or something like that.

posix_spawn() is great, but Linux doesn't implement it. glibc does based on fork()+exec(). Other Unix(-like) OSes do implement posix_spawn() as system call. Also while you can use posix_spawn() in the vast majority of cases, if it does
