Is there a legitimate use case that could explain why Apple is allowing this?

The key aspect here is that Instagram's app is using a Safari Webview but somehow it is injecting its own tracking pixel on the HTML body wether the target website had it or not. Which honestly does not surprise me, what surprises me i

No it's not. You could describe Elixir, with a lot of caveats, as a "ruby-fied Erlang" because a lot of the niceties are there. It's faster than Ruby, but it's totally not Ruby. Perhaps the "faster ruby"

I would have thought that the file rendering solution for partials would be cached in production environment.

To be fair, it seems all petrol car models from that era onwards are robust and reliable too! My previous car was a 1982 Renault 14, handed over to me by my father. By 1996, with 120000 km that car had carburator and distributor issues tha

I would guess controls to avoid people storing pirated movies on Gitlab repos and similar stuff have been in place for a long time.

Fair point! The interesting thing is: if Agile was invented by software engineers, how come it ended up disfigured in the hands of PMs, reinvented as Agile Coaches? My 2c theory: because the tenets of the Manifesto do not generate interest

I have a regular Ford Focus from 2004. Not obssessed with it by any stretch but I am curious as to what's the final mileage this machine can do over the years. It's now on 260k kms, which I think it's not much. Other than t

Just curious, is this process performed in alternate phases (pump water, wait for the vapor ) or is it done at the same time with different pipes in the same hole?

Well I was thinking of the geothermal energy that Quaise is pretending to extract.

I also read that Quaise value proposal is drilling a 20km deep hole but once you reach there, how do you transform that into usable energy? Push water to extract vapor?

Thats for sure but, where does that energy come from? I would say it comes from the earths own rotation, would this infinitesimally slow the earth rotation? Anyway this is fascinating stuff!

I think because the metaphor went from being file-centric (you choose the file, you launch the app) to app-centric (you open the app, then open the file). It's not exactly applicable to the file manager arena but I guess most users do

I fail to follow Cal's argument. It seems that he is abandoning his "digital detox" doctrine towards privacy. If the issue with social networks is the time we waste on them, why would an algorithmically generated feed be les

The TopSpeed Modula-2 compiler was fast and the IDE was pretty interesting, you could customize almost anything, far beyond what the Turbos from Borland offered. Also it included a demo that run concurrent coroutines on a regular 8086 compu

This begs the question: what _is_ angular momentum? How does it gets transferred from the swirling gas to whatever degenerate state of matter is inside the neutron star? What kind of interaction is that?

I remember a pretty similar program that was included in the Vic-20 users guide circa 40 years ago. I miss the simplicity of learning by coding something that finally ends up like a game!
