"We are sliding into a darker world order. " This is the TLDR; I guess Japan will not be the only country taking similar steps. With a looming energy crisis (it's not clear how more sustainable energy sources will support th

Not to get on the merits of Rust or Elixir, but while you are absolutely entitled to your preferences I should suggest that perhaps you may miss out something important by ditching languages based purely on the format of sigils.

I cannot understand why it does not allow to autocomplete the destination folder when one moves a message, you have to rely on the "predicted" folder or just use the mouse.

That's not that bad, specially for solo driving where you cannot use a regular road map (remember those?).

Yes, it is fairly straightforward and easy enough to use with the Tab Group switcher in the menu, but sadly it does not allow you to nest tabs in a tree manner (probably it was decided it was a power user feature).

Just browsing orionfeedback.org shows how difficult it is to create a fully fledged modern browser _even_ if you already tap onto an existing rendering engine.

The timing of this piece on Hacker News is just one day before a new beta release is planned with a new vertical tab sidebar implementation which is easier than the current one. But it's already better than Safari Tab Groups and more

Well executed! Just as a suggestion, incorrect answers could be displayed more prominently so one has more visual feedback about what to learn. Does not look like a beginner's project to me, congrats again!

This also interested me. I'd guess that the idea parent is trying to convey is that for a given size of a Ruby codebase the engineering organization needs to be structured like successful cases like Github, Shopify or whatever, but I&#

Didn't mean it was unique (guess most interpreted languages have REPL loops) but my point was that it is a plus, not a fault.

It's good practice to use irb to quickly check stuff or inspect the programmatic surface of a new library. But that's a Ruby feature that you don't have in other languages! In no way its mandatory to code inside irb. Most o

Isn't RBS for Ruby a way of having optional typing? (Not challenging here, honest question :P)

Sure! But you need to be a testing practitioner anyway. I agree that perhaps the number of tests is different, but the teams processes and cultures should already be there. But to counter myself, the perceived lack of developer speed and

Thanks for spotting that, I had missed it! This goes to show (again) that the "Ruby/Rails does not scale" myth is fictional.

It's not like strong typing came after Ruby. In fact, duck typing was a _feature_ of Ruby on its days. At the end of the day, you choose your battles, it's not a black-or-white decision.
