What I really want is the ability to turn on GPS without allowing Google to see any data, not even "to improve our services" which is legal speak for "it's ours now, we can do whatever we want". I am pretty sure Goo

I don't think they have the balls to pull something like that. If a manager suggest this in a meeting, the legal folks will eat him alive. If it comes from higher upps, then someone will leak this and that will be the end of Google.

Okay, but this doesn't explain why they didn't move to amd instead. Changing architecture like this is not cheap. Besides, Apple just pissed off the entire software industry. Assume you are Adobe or Abelton and now have to spend s

Off topic: the cookie dialog in this site is a textbook example of dark patterns. On topic: the article basically says you don't need your own asic since you can but whatever you need as discrete ICs from them??

> Mac ARM laptops mean cloud ARM VMs. Why do you think that? Cloud means linux, apple does not even have a server OS anymore. We are seeing some ARM devices entering the server space, but these have been in progress for ears and have abs

I hate Pinterest, all it does is to pollute my search results with garbage. If I search for something I want to get to the source, not some middleman. Why do we need an alternative??

Firefox for Android is (at least for my usage) pretty much desktop Firefox with a touch-friendly UI. Firefox for iOS is not really Firefox.

I tried reaper for a day and could not figure out how to do anything. Switched right back to live. I think it's a promising project but he urgently needs to hire a UX expert. +1 for platform independence though. I can't understand

Scoring directly in the software is a huge pain + buggy midi support often forces me to use a different software and then import the midi into musescore for printing.

I feel they are on the wrong path. Musescore has significant UX issues and things have been getting worse with each release. Instead of adding new complex functions that are already done better by others they should try to fix the basic thi

Asking as someone who does not work with AI but has taken a couple of courses in ML: What new things will I be able to do after this course? (in a practical sense, the technical description on the course page I can read myself)

I think this is a very relevant question and I am sad to see that it is being downvoted. Remember that we have had two major flaws in the formally verified tls1.3 so far because the spec was not complete.

I am sure having all code in the same repo helps but I was mainly thinking about how changes across multiple services is often very time consuming in microkernel designs and requires very careful analysis.

I agree with you on the first part: Linux's best weapon is its community and strong leadership. But in my opinion, the second most important feature of Linux is in fact its ability to change large parts of the kernel when and if needed

It's virtualized for the same architecture, which is not very costly on today's CPUs. ARM emulating x86 is a whole different beast. On the other hand, why not run arm-docker on a virtual arm-linux?? Why does it have to be x86?
